These steels are unique in more ways than one and a deep knowledge is essential for a successful experience in using them. Further, expertise in working them is essential too as otherwise these expensive steels will not deliver value. Cutting them thermally will reduce their strength in the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) and that can be minimized or eliminated by cutting under water. Drilling on them is complicated needing special tools, machinery and processes.

Bending them is a task in itself but unless done in the cold condition the property in the material will be lost.We see many a company buying these UHS and AHS steels and ending up processing them using methods established for mild steels and other simple steels much to their eventual shock when the life of the wear solution stands compromised.
